HEIC to PNG Converter
Convert iPhone HEIC / HEIF photos to PNG — a lossless, pixel-perfect copy for editing, graphics and design work. Free, in bulk, and converted entirely in your browser: your photos are never uploaded anywhere.
Drop your HEIC photos here
or click to browse — you can also paste with Ctrl + V. JPG, PNG and WebP files are accepted too.
Preview above — click anywhere in this box to add more photos.
JPG opens everywhere and stays small.
90% looks identical to the original for photos.
For forms with a file-size limit — output lands at or just under the target.
Quick answer: The converter below is already set to PNG. Drop your HEIC photos in and download — every pixel of the original is preserved, which is why PNG files are larger than the JPG version.
How to convert HEIC to JPG
Add your HEIC photos
Drag and drop .heic or .heif files into the box above, tap to browse, or paste them straight from your clipboard. Add one photo or a whole batch.
Pick format & size
Choose JPG for maximum compatibility or PNG for a lossless copy. If a form demands a size limit, set an exact target like 200 KB.
Download
Save each photo individually, or download the whole batch as one ZIP. Nothing was uploaded, so there is nothing to wait for and nothing stored.

Why iPhone photos are HEIC — and why they won't open
The short version
Since iOS 11 (2017), iPhones save photos as HEIC by default because the format keeps the same quality in about half the file size of JPG. The catch: HEIC support outside Apple devices is patchy. Windows doesn't decode it without a paid extension, many websites and government forms reject it, and older software shows a blank icon instead of your photo.
Converting to JPG fixes all of that — JPG is the one image format that opens literally everywhere.
Stop your iPhone saving HEIC
If you'd rather skip converting in future: on the iPhone open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG (and take roughly twice the storage).
Photos already taken stay in HEIC — drop them into the converter above and you're done in seconds.
Frequently asked questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the photo format iPhones and iPads have used by default since iOS 11 (2017). It stores photos in roughly half the space of JPG at similar quality, but many Windows apps, websites and online forms still cannot open it — which is why people convert HEIC to JPG.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. This converter runs entirely in your browser using your own device's processing power. Your photos never leave your device, there is no upload queue, and nothing is stored anywhere.
Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?
JPG is a lossy format, so a small amount of quality is traded for compatibility. At the default 90% quality setting the difference is not visible in normal use. If you need a pixel-perfect copy, choose PNG instead — it is lossless, though the files are larger.
Why won't my iPhone photos open on Windows?
Windows does not include a HEIC decoder by default; the Photos app asks for a paid HEVC extension from the Microsoft Store. Converting the photos to JPG here is free and works on any Windows PC, no extension or sign-up needed.
Can I convert many HEIC photos at once?
Yes. Add as many files as you like — drag a whole folder selection in at once — and they are converted one after another on your device. Use the Download all (ZIP) button to save them in a single file.
Can I make the JPG an exact size, like 200 KB?
Yes. Turn on the exact-size option and pick a target such as 100 KB, 200 KB or 500 KB (or type your own). The converter adjusts quality — and, only if needed, dimensions — so each JPG lands at or just under your target, which is what most application and visa forms require.
How do I stop my iPhone saving photos as HEIC?
On the iPhone, go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG. Photos already on the phone stay HEIC — convert those here.
How to convert HEIC to PNG
Add your HEIC photos
Drag and drop .heic or .heif files into the converter above, browse for them, or paste from your clipboard. The output format is already set to PNG on this page.
Check the size note
PNG is lossless, so files are noticeably larger than JPG — often 3–10× the size of the HEIC original. That is expected and is the price of a pixel-perfect copy.
Download your PNGs
Save each PNG on its own, or download the full batch as one ZIP. Conversion happens on your device — nothing is uploaded.
HEIC to PNG vs HEIC to JPG — which should you pick?
Choose PNG when…
- You will edit the photo further and re-save it several times — PNG never degrades with re-saving.
- The image is a screenshot, scan, logo or graphic with sharp edges and text.
- You need the exact pixels of the original, for design or print work.
Choose JPG when…
- The photo is going to a website, form, email or social post with a size limit.
- You are converting a large batch and storage or upload size matters.
- It is an ordinary camera photo — at 90% quality the JPG looks identical.

Frequently asked questions
Is HEIC to PNG conversion lossless?
Yes. PNG stores every pixel exactly, so the PNG you download is a pixel-perfect copy of the decoded HEIC photo. No quality slider applies to PNG — output is always full quality.
Why is my PNG so much bigger than the HEIC file?
HEIC compresses photos very efficiently, and PNG trades that efficiency for exactness. A 2 MB HEIC photo commonly becomes an 8–15 MB PNG. If the size is a problem, convert to JPG instead — it stays close to the original size.
Can I set an exact size for a PNG, like 200 KB?
Yes — set the exact-size option and the converter will reduce the image dimensions only as much as needed to fit the target. Because PNG has no quality setting, resizing is the only way to shrink it, so very small targets mean visibly smaller images.
Does PNG keep transparency from HEIC?
If the source HEIC carries transparency, the PNG output preserves it. Ordinary iPhone camera photos have no transparency, so their PNGs are fully opaque — the same picture, just in PNG format.
Can I convert HEIC to PNG in bulk?
Yes. Add a whole batch at once and download everything together as a ZIP. Keep in mind that large PNG batches produce a large ZIP, because every file is lossless.
How to convert HEIC to PDF
Add your HEIC photos in order
Drop your .heic or .heif files into the converter above. They are placed into the PDF in the order they appear in the list, so add them in the sequence you want.
Let them convert to JPG
Each photo is first converted to a JPG on your device — PDFs store photos most efficiently as JPG pages, and quality stays at your chosen setting.
Download all as PDF
Use the Download all as PDF button in the toolbar. You get one PDF file with one photo per page, each page sized to its photo. The individual JPGs stay available too.
When a PDF is the right output
Good reasons to pick PDF
- A form, embassy, school or employer asks for documents "as a single PDF".
- You are sending several photos as one tidy attachment instead of many files.
- You want the photos to print in a fixed order, one per page.
Good reasons to stay with JPG
- The photos need editing, cropping or uploading one by one.
- A website's upload field accepts images only, not documents.
- You want the smallest possible total size — separate JPGs are leaner.
For plain images, use the HEIC to JPG converter; for one combined document, stay on this page.
Frequently asked questions
How does HEIC to PDF conversion work here?
Your HEIC photos are decoded and converted to JPG entirely in your browser, then combined into a single PDF on your device — one photo per page, each page matched to the photo's dimensions and orientation. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Can I put several HEIC photos into one PDF?
Yes — that is exactly what this page is for. Add every photo you want included, wait for them to convert, then press Download all as PDF. The PDF contains the photos in list order.
Will the PDF be accepted by online forms?
Forms that ask for a PDF document accept this output: it is a standard PDF with an embedded JPG image on each page, readable by every PDF viewer and upload checker.
How do I change the page order in the PDF?
Remove the photos and add them again in the order you want, or remove a single photo with its ✕ button and re-add it last. The PDF follows the order shown in the list.
Does converting to PDF reduce photo quality?
Each page holds the JPG produced at your quality setting (90% by default), which is visually identical to the original for documents and sharing. Raise the quality slider to 100% before converting if you want the maximum.
How to convert HEIC to JPG on Windows
Get the photos onto your PC
Copy the HEIC files from your iPhone by USB cable, iCloud for Windows, email or a USB stick. This page works in any Windows browser — Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
Drop them into the converter
Drag the .heic files from File Explorer straight into the box above. No HEVC extension, no Microsoft Store purchase, no software install.
Download the JPGs
Save the converted JPGs individually or as one ZIP. They now open in Windows Photos, Paint, Word, and every upload form.
Why HEIC photos don't open on Windows
The HEVC extension problem
Windows ships without a HEIC decoder. Opening the Photos app on a HEIC file sends you to the Microsoft Store to buy the "HEVC Video Extensions" — and even after installing it, many programs (older Office versions, most web forms, a lot of desktop software) still refuse HEIC files.
Converting to JPG removes the dependency completely: a JPG needs no extension, no codec and no store account, on any Windows version.
Getting photos from iPhone to PC
- USB cable: plug the iPhone in, open it in File Explorer, and copy from the DCIM folders — the files arrive as HEIC.
- iCloud Photos: downloads also arrive as HEIC unless you change iCloud settings.
- Email / cloud drives: some services auto-convert, many don't — if the file ends in .heic, convert it here.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the HEVC extension from the Microsoft Store?
No. That paid extension only lets some Windows apps view HEIC files; it doesn't convert them, and plenty of software still can't use HEIC afterwards. This converter turns the files into real JPGs in your browser, for free, with nothing to install.
Does this work on Windows 10 and Windows 11?
Yes — it works in any modern browser on both, because the conversion runs in the browser rather than in Windows itself. It also works on older machines where the Photos app won't open HEIC at all.
Why do my iPhone photos show as blank icons in File Explorer?
File Explorer can only show thumbnails for formats Windows can decode. Without HEIC support you get a generic icon and no preview. After converting to JPG, thumbnails and previews work normally.
Can I convert HEIC to JPG on Windows without uploading my photos?
Yes. This page converts on your own PC inside the browser — the files are never sent to a server, which matters for personal photos you would rather not hand to an upload-based converter.
Will the JPGs work in Word, PowerPoint and forms?
Yes. JPG is accepted by every Office app, government and university form, and website upload field — that compatibility is the main reason to convert.
How to convert HEIC to JPG on Mac
Add your HEIC photos
Drag .heic files from Finder into the converter above, or browse for them. Works in Safari, Chrome and Firefox on macOS — nothing to install.
Convert the whole batch at once
Unlike Preview, which opens and exports files one window at a time, this converter handles the full selection together at your chosen quality.
Download JPGs or a ZIP
Save each JPG individually, or take the whole batch as one ZIP — ready to send to Windows users, upload to forms, or attach to email.
Built-in Mac options — and when this page is faster
What macOS can already do
- Preview: open a HEIC file and use File → Export → JPEG. Fine for one or two photos, slow for fifty.
- Photos app: select photos, then File → Export → Export as JPEG. Works, but buries quality and size choices in menus.
- Finder quick actions: right-click → Quick Actions → Convert Image on newer macOS versions.
When the browser converter wins
- You have a large batch and want one ZIP at the end, not fifty export dialogs.
- You need an exact output size (for example 200 KB for a form) — Preview and Photos don't offer a KB target; this converter does.
- The Mac isn't yours, or you can't install or change anything on it.
Need the exact-size option explained? See the HEIC to JPG under 200 KB page.
Frequently asked questions
Why convert on a Mac at all if macOS opens HEIC?
Macs open HEIC natively, but the people and systems you send photos to often can't — Windows PCs, older software, and most web forms. Converting to JPG before sharing avoids the "I can't open this file" reply.
How do I convert HEIC to JPG on Mac without any software?
Use this page: it runs entirely in your browser, so there is nothing to download or install. For a single photo, the built-in Preview app's Export option also works.
Can I batch convert HEIC to JPG on Mac?
Yes. Select all the HEIC files in Finder, drag them into the converter together, and download the results as one ZIP — much faster than exporting file by file in Preview.
Does AirDrop change the format?
AirDrop between Apple devices keeps photos as HEIC. AirDropping to a Mac gives you HEIC files, which is why converting on the Mac afterwards is a common step before sending photos on to Windows users.
How do I make my iPhone send JPGs to my Mac automatically?
On the iPhone, open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible — new photos are saved as JPG everywhere. Existing HEIC photos still need converting, which is what this page does.
How batch conversion works
Add the whole batch
Select every HEIC file at once in your file picker (Ctrl/Cmd + click, or drag a lasso selection), or drag the files in from a folder in several drops — the list keeps growing.
One setting for all files
Format, quality and the optional exact-KB target apply to the entire batch. Change a setting and every converted file is re-done with the new one automatically.
Download all as ZIP
One click saves every converted file in a single ZIP, with duplicate names numbered automatically so nothing overwrites anything else.
Tips for large batches
Speed and limits
Conversion runs on your own device, one file after another, so speed depends on your phone or computer — a recent laptop converts a typical iPhone photo in about a second. There is no server queue and no per-file upload wait, which is why big batches are practical here.
Very old phones and very large batches (hundreds of high-resolution photos) are slower and heavier on memory; splitting the job into groups of 30–50 files keeps everything smooth.
Keeping a batch organised
- Files convert and download with their original names — only the extension changes.
- Two photos with the same name are kept apart as "name.jpg" and "name (2).jpg".
- You can add more files mid-batch; they join the queue and convert automatically.
- Remove a mistake with its ✕ button before downloading the ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
How many HEIC files can I convert at once?
There is no fixed count limit — the practical limit is your device's memory and patience. Batches of a few dozen photos are comfortable on any modern phone or computer; for hundreds of photos, work in groups of 30–50.
Can I add more files while a batch is converting?
Yes. Drop or browse for more files at any time — they are added to the list and converted automatically when the current queue finishes, with the same settings.
Do all files in a batch use the same settings?
Yes. One format, quality and optional exact-size target applies to the whole batch, and changing a setting re-converts the finished files with the new setting so the batch stays consistent.
How do I download a converted batch?
Use Download all (ZIP) to get every converted file in a single archive, or download files individually from their rows. File names are preserved, with numbers added where two originals share a name.
Is batch conversion still private?
Yes. Batch files are processed one by one in your browser on your device, exactly like single files — nothing is uploaded, queued on a server, or stored anywhere.
How to convert HEIC to JPG under 200 KB
Add your HEIC photo
Drop the .heic file into the converter above. The exact-size target on this page is already set to 200 KB.
The size is fitted automatically
The converter lowers JPG quality step by step until the file lands at or just under 200 KB. Only if even the lowest usable quality is too big does it also reduce the dimensions, and it tells you when it does.
Download and upload to your form
Check the result row — it shows the final size next to the original. Download the JPG and upload it to the form that asked for 200 KB or less.
Need a different limit?
Why forms ask for a photo under 200 KB
The form's side of it
Visa applications, exam registrations, job portals and government forms cap upload sizes to keep their servers and review queues manageable — 200 KB is one of the most common limits, with 100 KB and 50 KB close behind. A straight iPhone HEIC photo is usually 1.5–4 MB, and in the wrong format on top of that, so it fails on both counts.
This page fixes both problems in one pass: right format (JPG) and right size (at or under your target).
How the exact-size fitting works
- The converter first tries your full-size photo at decreasing JPG quality levels.
- It keeps the largest result that is still at or under the target — no smaller than necessary.
- Dimensions are reduced only as a last resort, and the result row notes the new dimensions when that happens.
- Works for any target: the pills cover 50 KB to 1 MB, and Custom takes any value.
Frequently asked questions
Will the converted JPG be exactly 200 KB?
It will be at or just under 200 KB — the converter keeps the highest quality version that still fits the limit, so most photos land close to 200 KB rather than far below it. Forms require "200 KB or less", which is what you get.
Does shrinking to 200 KB ruin the photo?
For form and document use, no — the photo stays clearly recognisable, which is what reviewers need. A 200 KB version is not the copy to print or archive; keep your original HEIC for that.
Can I convert HEIC to JPG under 100 KB or 50 KB instead?
Yes. Pick the 100 KB or 50 KB pill in the exact-size setting (or type any custom target). Smaller targets mean lower quality and, at 50 KB, usually smaller dimensions too — the converter notes when it resizes.
My form says the photo must be JPG under 200 KB. Is this output accepted?
Yes. The output is a standard JPG file whose size is at or under 200 KB, converted and sized entirely in your browser, ready to upload to the form.
Already have a JPG that is too big?
Drop it in here too — JPG, PNG and WebP files are accepted and re-sized to the same target. Or use the dedicated Image Compressor to 200 KB for photos that don't need format conversion.
